Dr. George Williams was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He completed his undergraduate degree at Alabama A&M with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry. Two years later, he completed his graduate studies at UAB with a Master of Science Degree in Forensic Science. After working for the U.S. Department of Justice for several years as a Forensic Chemistry expert, he attended the prestigious Meharry Medical College, School of Medicine, and earned the degree of Medical Doctor (M.D.)

During his four years of OB/GYN residency in Detroit, Michigan at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center, Dr. Williams delivered over 900 babies. More than 300 of these babies were c-section deliveries and many were high-risk pregnancies. In addition, he performed hundreds of gynecological surgeries including hysterectomies, laparoscopies, and routine OB/GYN examinations.

After completion of residency, Dr. Williams joined an OB/GYN private practice in suburban Atlanta as an employed physician. At Northside Hospital, one of Atlanta’s most-respected medical facilities, he established himself as a stellar obstetrician and gynecologist. While at Northside, he performed over 200 laparoscopic surgeries and hysterectomies within a two-year period and maintained a c-section rate of 12 percent, which is well below the national average of 25 percent.

Due to his desire to provide more personalized and holistic care to his patients, Dr. Williams began to develop his own OB/GYN office. While establishing his private practice, he was highly recruited by Vaughn Regional Medical Center (VRMC) to help satisfy an OB/GYN shortage in Central Alabama and fill a need for a young, highly skilled, university-trained OB/GYN with Alabama ties. At that point, Dr. Williams relocated his practice to VRMC and established the Center for Women’s Health & Reproductive Medicine.

Dr. Williams is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), as well as the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL), and the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons (SLS). He is married and has one daughter.
